The month of Shravan holds great significance in Indian culture. It is a time of devotion, celebration, and spiritual renewal, marked by several important festivals such as Independence Day (15th August), Raksha Bandhan, Shivratri, and Janmashtami.

To embrace the festive spirit of this sacred month, the Lions Club of Mumbai Magic organized a unique event, the Shravan Queen Contest, exclusively for its members. Excitement and enthusiasm filled the air as everyone prepared to showcase their creativity and devotion.

My Devotional Act:

For my performance, I chose to represent a devotee of Lord Krishna, inspired by the divine celebration of Janmashtami. As I walked towards the stage, I began chanting the Hare Krishna Mantra.

To my pleasant surprise, the audience joined in whole heartedly. The hall soon echoed with the powerful and rhythmic vibrations of:

“Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare,
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.”

The atmosphere instantly transformed into one of deep spirituality and joy. It was truly a divine and unforgettable moment, one that filled my heart with peace and devotion.

The Meaning and Benefits of the Mantra:

The judges then asked me to explain the significance and benefits of the mantra. I shared that it means:

“O Lord, O Energy of the Lord, please engage me in Your service.”

I also explained some of its many blessings:

  • Closer to God: It deepens our connection with Lord Krishna and strengthens our faith.
  • Better Focus: Chanting helps improve concentration and brings emotional calmness.
  • Stronger Community: Group chanting fosters unity and a shared sense of purpose.
  • Inner Happiness: It fills us with positivity, energy, and a sense of completeness.
  • Kinder to Others: It nurtures mindfulness and empathy, helping us understand and care for others more deeply.

The audience and judges appreciated my simple yet heartfelt idea of portraying a devotee. Their warm applause and kind words truly touched my heart.

The Shravan Queen Contest turned out to be much more than a competition, it was a journey of faith, joy, and self-expression. I returned home with a heart full of gratitude and beautiful memories that I will always cherish.

God always live in simple things. Most of the people do so many complicated things to appease Him. But power of simplicity is the real thing. Which you have seen in your audience too. Real simplicity is formula to appease God and develop Godly qualites.

devotion is the best ,simplest and timetested formula to win over God
it is said that once narsimha avatar killed the demon kashyap and could not control his rage even after that.
then the devas prayed and requested his devotee to sit on his lap to calm him down so that the universe could be saved

Devotion to God depends on how we’re able to connect with Him. It can be in various simple ways: chanting, meditation, service to the underprivileged, aged, disabled or differently abled…..many other ways. But they all end up giving deep inner peace n joy. 😊
